February 25, 2013. Oregon Inlet, North Carolina. Oregon Bridge is spanned by the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge. The Inlet was originally .5 miles across, but during a hurricane, it expand to 2 miles in the matter of hours. As inlets tend to migrate, the erection of the bridge has had unforeseen consequences on the rest of the neighboring environment.. Tracing the path of Hurricane Sandy, which wrecked havoc on the northeastern seaboard from October 25-31, 2012. The storm caused flooding and caused an estimated 60 billion dollars worth of damage to affected areas.
