 To rally support for the North Carolina NAACP's case against Gov. Pat McCrory (NC NAACP v. McCrory), a march was held in downtown Winston Salem on the opening day of the case in federal court. Thousands gathered to walk the streets of downtown and listen to speeches proclaiming the importance of defeating new requirements for voter registration,<br />
 The NC NAACP contests that HB 589 (Voter ID requirements) violate Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act (42 U.S.C. 1973) and the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments of the Constitution.
