June 4, 2009. Raleigh, NC.. Due to the economic downturn, the state of North Carolina has proposed the closing of the Governor Morehead School, a school for the visually impaired in Raleigh. If no solution is found the school could be moved out of Raleigh, or merged with  the state's schools for blind and deaf children.  . Paige Strickland, a severely visually impaired child, graduated from the Gov. Morehead School, and her mother Jennifer says the school offers services for VI children that no other school in the area can.. Paige plays the piano, one of the many instruments she is learning to play.
