May 9, 2009. Tryon, NC.. In the last weeks of their deployment in Iraq, the 1451st Transportation Company of the NC National Guard lost 2 men to an IED explosion. After returning home, 4 of the surviving soldiers took their own lives.. Lawrence Parker is the father of 1st Sergeant Roger Parker, who served in Iraq with the 1451st Transportation Company of the NC National Guard when they lost 2 men to a roadside bomb. After returning from Iraq, 1st Sgt. Parker committed suicide, leaving behind a wife and his father and sister.  Mr. Parker looks over photos of his son.
