 Corn ear worms grow in food capsules. The orange food is given to the small worms which can then be introduced into test capsules of various seed strains, measuring the strains resistance to the worms.<br />
 The Bayer Crop Science Innovation Center was established in 2010 and employs researchers in genetics, genomics and agricultural biotechnology. Much of the company’s seed and trait R&D goes through this center, which is located just miles from the Bayer greenhouses that will grow the seeds developed at the Innovation Center.
