May 19, 2010. Pittsboro, North Carolina.. Elia Bizzarri makes rocking chairs the old fashioned way, by hand, using tools whose design date back hundreds of years. Working out of a shop in the woods outside Pittsboro, he takes 30 to 45 hours to make each hand crafted chair.. Outside his shop, Bizzarri's shaving horse sits in a pile of wood shavings from the spindle he was shaping with a draw knife, on horse, for the back of a rocking chair.
