As the beach on the islands deteriorates, residents replenish their own beaches with sand from offshore.. Tracing the path of Hurricane Sandy, which wrecked havoc on the northeastern seaboard from October 25-31, 2012. The storm caused flooding and caused an estimated 60 billion dollars worth of damage to affected areas.
