April 21, 2009. Myrtle Beach, SC.. After years of hosting hundreds of thousands of bikers for the annual Bike Week and Black Bike Week rallies, the city council of Myrtle Beach has passed new motorcycle laws to try and put an end to the rallies and promote a more family oriented experience. Many local business owners are outraged at the loss off revenue and the ordinances are to be challenged in court.. James Shore, the asst. manager of Scooters and Cycles in downtown Myrtle Beach, worries that they will lose business as people stop coming downtown due to the new rules. In this down economy, the shop is already struggling.
