Little has changed in St. Bernard Parish, outside of New Orleans, since the devastating floods that followed hurricane Katrina bringing some 15 to 20 feet of water into the neighborhoods around the town of Violet. Some streets have been cleared but the parish, one of the hardest hit in the storm, remains a ghost town with few residents returning and thousands of abandoned houses and cars filling the landscape.. The National Association of Christian Churches have set up a relief center in the parking lot of the St. Bernard Parish Wal-Mart.
