June 4, 2009. Raleigh, NC.. Due to the economic downturn, the state of North Carolina has proposed the closing of the Governor Morehead School, a school for the visually impaired in Raleigh. If no solution is found the school could be moved out of Raleigh, or merged with the state's schools for blind and deaf children. . Paige Strickland, a severely visually impaired child, graduated from the Gov. Morehead School, and her mother Jennifer says the school offers services for VI children that no other school in the area can.. Photos of Paige and her sister Micaela hang above the piano, which Paige is learning to play.
