March 11, 2010. Raleigh, North Carolina.. The first N.C. Poverty Simulation Experience training session was held at the 40th Annual State Head Start Conference at the Raleigh Convention Center. . Nearly 60 individuals, including staff and parents from Head Start programs and Community Action Agencies, engaged in role playing exercises that hoped to simulate the experience of being poor and what the poor go through on a daily basis.. Participants had to make their way around the room on a timeframe to engage in activities such as school for those who were representing children.
