July 26, 2008. Durham, NC.. Local semi-pro football team, the Triangle Rattlers, played the Rowan Rampage in the opening game of the 2008 semi-pro season.. The players are unpaid and the league continues to struggle with financial issues, but many of the players see this as their last shot at a career in football.. The team is required to have an off duty sheriff at every game for security. The scheduled officer did not show up, so the stadium attendant almost had the game shut down.. Here owner and quarterback, Barry Marrow, center, talks to another sheriff about covering his colleague's shift as they hope the game will not be canceled.
