The International Civil Rights Center & Museum is an archival center, collecting museum devoted to the international struggle for civil and human rights. The Museum celebrates the nonviolent protests of the 1960 Greensboro sit-ins, which served as a catalyst in the civil rights movement and whose 50th anniversary is Monday, February 1st, 2010. . The derringer given to J. Kenneth Lee for self protecton when he removed the colored sign at the Guilford County Courthouse. Lee was a prominent Greensboro lawyer who worked on 1700 civil rights lawsuits during his 38 years of legal practice.
