November 10, 2013. Durham, North Carolina.
A local hunting advocate led the movement to allow the bow hunting of deer within the city limits of Durham, NC. The law, which is effective immediately, gives licensed hunters free range within city limits as long as they're in a ten foot tall deer stand, hunting on at least five acres, and are at least 250 ft away from homes and businesses. The aim of the law, as with many similar ones around the country, is to cut down on deer related car accidents that have spiked in recent years as homes are built in areas that in the past had been home to the animals.
