February 02, 2008. Baker, LA.. Renaissance Village trailer park for Louisiana residents displaced by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Over 2 years after the storms, hundreds of residents still live in the temporary trailer park, as they search for ways to move out and reestablish their lives.. Gwendolyn Allen, of New Orleans, has lived here since it was set up and takes care of her handicapped brother. She has been unable to find a job and has no one else to help with her brother. FEMA has given her a list of available properties around NOLA, but she does not have the funds to move back without help for her brother. She held her last job as a Burger King manager for 10 years and could have it back, but has no one left to watch her brother.
